Confirmation & First Communion
Sacramental Program
In keeping with the Archdiocese of Brisbane’s guidelines for the Sacraments of Initiation for Children, the Sacramental Program at Our Lady Of Lourdes Sunnybank Parish is both Family centred, Parish based and School-supported. Essentially, this program is a partnership in which families, school and the Parish community work together in the preparation and celebration of these Sacraments – Confirmation, First Communion and Penance. Children in this context can learn what it is to be a Catholic.
The parish offers a program that combines individual and group preparation. This culminates with a session with the Parish Priest to ensure all candidates are satisfactorily prepared and then a rehearsal will be held before receiving their sacrament.

Sacramental Program - Confirmation
We are inviting parents of baptised children ages 8 years old and in year 3 at school to our parent information session for the sacrament of Confirmation. Parent Info Session: Sunday 27th April 3pm, OLOL School Auditorium Rite of Enrolment Masses: (during weekend Mass) Saturday 17th May 6pm Sunday 18th May 8:30am, 10:00am & 6pm Key Formation Session 1: Sunday 25th May 3pm, OLOL Primary School Auditorium Key Formation Session 2: Sunday 1st June 3pm, OLOL Primary School Auditorium Rehearsal: Sunday 8th June 3pm, Our Lady of Lourdes Church Sacrament of Confirmation: Thursday 12th June 4:30pm, Our Lady of Lourdes Church |

The parish’s program sees children commencing their Sacramental journey, after Baptism, with;

- Confirmation when they are 8 y/0 upon receiving the sacrament,
- Communion when they are 9 y/0 and above after receiving Confirmation
- Penance when they are 9 y/o and above after receiving their 1st Communion.
