Confirmation & First Communion
Sacramental Program
In keeping with the Archdiocese of Brisbane’s guidelines for the Sacraments of Initiation for Children, the Sacramental Program at Our Lady Of Lourdes Sunnybank Parish is both Family centred, Parish based and School-supported. Essentially, this program is a partnership in which families, school and the Parish community work together in the preparation and celebration of these Sacraments – Confirmation, First Communion and Penance. Children in this context can learn what it is to be a Catholic.
The parish offers a program that combines individual and group preparation. This culminates with a session with the Parish Priest to ensure all candidates are satisfactorily prepared and then a rehearsal will be held before receiving their sacrament.

2026 SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM
Sacrament of Reconciliation (Concluding the 2025 Program) We would like to inform you that our 2026 Sacramental Program for the sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance) will commence with the Parent Information Session on Sunday 22 February, 3pm at the OLOL School Auditorium. This is the continuation of the sacramental program for those children who have received their First Communion (First Eucharist) last August 2025. The parish’s program sees children commencing their Sacramental journey, after Baptism, with;

- Confirmation when they are 8 y/0 upon receiving the sacrament,
- Communion when they are 9 y/0 and above after receiving Confirmation
- Penance when they are 9 y/o and above after receiving their First Communion.
